Legal and Ethical Issues (M2:U3)
Legal
Copyright
Copyright
is an important thing when creating a product, copyright is essentially when
you have to make sure your product is not exactly same as someone else’s
product. You cannot create a product on the plans of someone else’s product as
it would be exactly the same and therefore a copy of theirs. This also works
for designs such as logo’s, most logos are copyrighted especially for large
companies, copying their logo would most likely end up too a lawsuit by the
original creator/user of the logo. To
get around this my magazine will not use any information that is protected by
copyright, and any information that is used will be referenced and listed in
the bibliography
Libel
Libel
is when you write something down that is defaming someone, this means you are
writing something that is ruining someone’s career or reputation. This is
illegal and opens up you and if its published in a magazine, that magazine
company is open to law suits. To get around this my magazine will not publish
anything that is defaming to anyone.
Discrimination
Discrimination
is a serious offence to commit especially in a magazine. Discrimination is when
comments which are made against either verbally or written about either a
certain race, gender, sexuality or religion. This is a serious offence not to
just the law but the public and will likely cause a loss of readers.
Discrimination is also usually abuse and harassment against those types of
people. My magazine will not have anything in it that is against people for any
kind of reason, as an events-based magazine this won’t be too hard.
Ethical
Under
18 models
Under
18’s appearing as models are an ethical problem, my magazine will not be using
models in it, due to be an events-based magazine it will not need to have any
pictures of people inside of it. So, this shouldn’t be an issue for my
magazine.
Environmental
Environmental
problems are ones that effect the environment, my magazine will be
environmentally friendly in a few ones, the magazine will feature text that
says when finished reading it to please dispose of the magazine properly. My
magazine also donates money to charity from every sale.
Safety
Concerns
Safety
concerns are where parents/legal guardians could be concerned of a child’s
well-being at events such as gigs/concerts due to their young age and the size
of venues. For this my magazine could feature tips for parents about drop off
and pick up at the venues as well as travel directions from the venue to
tube/bus places so that they know their child will know how to get home from
the venue safely, there will also be details of the event security and contact
numbers for staff/security.
Mood Board
Gantt Chart
I have chosen these colours for my magazines colour scheme as i believe they will attract the target audience and give off the correct vibe of the magazine. The colour red and black is usually found on rock magazine of which the first edition of the magazine's main article will be based on a rock venue so this will attract rock genre lovers.
